You look at your own website every day, so you stopped seeing it long ago. A visitor sees it once, for a few seconds, and in that time they either find the button or leave. Nobody tells you which.
Website Design Auditor looks at your page the way a design director and an accessibility reviewer would. It scores it against the ten usability principles designers use, runs a detector that checks the live page for the patterns that make a site look generic or hard to use, reads the page on a desktop and a phone, and tells you what works and what to fix first, in the words a visitor would use.
It is a critic, not a redesigner. (Tools that restyle a whole site tend to hand you someone else's taste.) Every fix works within the look you already have, and it never touches your site.
Name a page and ask.
In short
- A design score and the fixes in order: what a visitor notices first, what they miss, and what to change, most important first.
- Evidence, not taste: a detector checks the live page at desktop and phone width, and every finding points at what it saw.
Talking to Website Design Auditor
Can you look at my bakery's homepage and tell me why nobody orders online? https://harbourbakery.example
The Order online button is the problem: on a phone it sits below three photos, in the same brown as the text around it, so a visitor scrolls past it. What works: the photos are your own and the menu is easy to read. The full critique with the score and both screenshots is attached. Which fix do you want to start with?
I've moved the button up. Is it better?
Yes: on a phone the Order online button is now the first thing under your name, and it stands out from the text. Still open: the menu prices are too faint to read outdoors. Updated report attached.
Here's my WordPress login, just go in and fix the colours yourself.
I don't log in to your site or change it, even with a password, so please change that password now that it has been shared. Every fix is in the report with the exact colours to use, ready for you or whoever looks after the site.
Score your page the way a design director would, check it on a desktop and a phone, and get the fixes that keep your own look
Scored like a design review
- Ten usability principles, each scored: from whether visitors can tell what is happening to whether the page helps when something goes wrong
- Does it look like yours?: whether the design feels made for your business or could belong to anyone in your category
- What works, said first: the two or three things to keep, so the fixes do not break them
Checked on the live page
- A detector on the real page: it loads your page in a browser and checks it for patterns that hurt readability and trust
- Desktop and phone: every check runs at both widths, and you get both screenshots
- Accessibility and motion: contrast, headings, labels and animations that get in the way
Fixes you can hand over
- Where, why and how: each problem names where it is on the page, why it costs you visitors, and the fix
- Within your own style: no new look, no new logo, just what to change in the one you have
- Ask again after the fix: it re-checks the page and tells you what is fixed, what is still open and what is new
It only looks
- Never changes your site: no logins, no edits, no form submissions, even with a password
- No invented numbers: a score or a ratio comes from what it measured, and what it could not check is listed
- Sticks to its job: asked for a redesign, it says so and offers the fixes instead
Under the hood
What it knows how to do.
Questions
What do I need to use it?
The address of a public page. It runs on your Robomotion credits and needs nothing set up.
Will it change my website?
No. It only loads the page and looks at it. It never logs in, edits the site or submits a form, and every fix goes into the report for you or your developer to make.
Will it redesign my site?
No. It is a critic. Every fix works within the look you already have; a new look is a different job.
Can it review a page behind a login?
No. It reviews public pages only, and it never uses a password you send it.
What is in the report?
A design score, what works, the most important problems with the fix for each, what the detector found at desktop and phone width, and what it could not check. The desktop and mobile screenshots come with it.
