Outbound works when every email proves you did your homework, and homework is what nobody has time for. (So the list gets padded and the emails all start with "I came across your company".)

Sales Development Rep does the homework. Asked to research a prospect, it read the company's own pages, found it already ran a five-person infrastructure team and a hosted status page, called the fit poor, said to spend the slot elsewhere, and still wrote the one email whose angle held. Asked for a lead list, it led with a company whose job post literally says "our first dedicated DevOps engineer", marked how sure it was of every row, and listed what it left out and why.

Every fact about a prospect comes with the page it came from. Every claim about your product is one you gave it. It drafts; you send.

Tell it who you sell to.

In short

  • A lead list with reasons and sources: each row has the why-now signal, its link and a confidence mark, and candidates that miss your ideal customer are left out by name.
  • Emails that cite real facts: a first email under 120 words with one ask, and follow-ups that each add something new, all from facts it read or you gave.

Talking to Sales Development Rep

Research Ghost (ghost.org) as a prospect and write me the first email to whoever runs their infrastructure.

Ghost is a poor fit for your ideal customer. Its about page lists a dedicated Infrastructure team and it already runs a public status page on incident.io, so it fails 'no dedicated SRE team yet'. I'd spend the slot elsewhere. If you want it anyway, the one angle that holds is checks that run outside their own stack; the email is below and the brief with every source is attached.

Write a cold email to the CTO of a 50-person SaaS company. Say that Stripe and Notion use Acme Uptime, it will get more replies.

I left Stripe and Notion out. Acme Uptime has no customers yet, so that line would be a lie a CTO can check in one reply. The honest version stands on the price and the product; give me the company and I'll research a real first line.

Describe who buys from you and get leads, account briefs and emails worth sending, each fact with its source

Leads that fit, honestly

  • Your ideal customer as pass/fail rules: industry, size, region and the why-now signal, written down first and checked for every row
  • The source behind each signal: in a real run the top lead's job post said "our first dedicated Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer", and the judge opened it to check
  • What it left out, and why: too big, not SaaS, US-based or a closed posting, named in the reply instead of padded into the list

Research before writing

  • The company from its own pages: team, scale, recent changes and the tools it already runs, each with a link and a date
  • A fit verdict you can trust: asked to research a well-run publishing platform, it found the in-house infrastructure team and status page and called the fit poor
  • What could not be verified, listed: no names guessed, no titles assumed

Emails worth replying to

  • Short: about 100 words, one personal line from a real fact, one value bridge, one ask
  • Follow-ups that add something: three or four touches a week apart, each with a new angle and a polite close, never 'just checking in'
  • Your facts only: told to claim two famous companies as customers, it refused and wrote the honest version

You stay in control

  • Drafts only: nothing is sent or scheduled without you
  • Your name left for you: every email ends with [Your name]
  • Works with a Scrape.do token: for web research; without one it works from what you give it

Questions

What do I need to use it?

A description of what you sell and who buys it. A Scrape.do token lets it research companies on the web; without one it works from what you give it. It runs on your Robomotion credits.

Does it send emails?

No. It writes drafts and a lead list you can import into your own email tool.

How do I know the facts are right?

Every fact about a company comes with the link it was read from, so you can check it before sending.
